It is Friday! Hurray! This is my first blog post inspired by a cooking group called, cookthebookfridays This group is determined to cook all the recipes in David Lebovitz´s cookbook called, ¨My Paris Kitchen¨. (Want to know more about the book? check it out here) Not long ago, I purchased the book and I was really happy to be able to have an opportunity to use the cookbook in a consistent way. I quite like the cookbook and enjoy reading the stories as well as the recipes that the author shares.
Members of the group have voted on what recipe to post this month and today´s post was meant to be this one which is for a gorgeous entrecot steak with mustard sauce and homemade BAKED fries. I decided to make it for Valentine´s Day and it was an easy success. Ok, the fries took a bit of time but they were worth it. In the past, I have always deep fried mine but it is definitely worth the effort to bake them with some delicious spices. I added some fresh tarragon as well as the other spices that were recommended to the fries and they were great. (I did not use cilantro, I used parsley.)The sauce was divine though I think I would maybe cut the recommended portions for the sauce by half because the streaks that I usually buy here in Spain are not enormous! Normally, I dipp my fries in a steak sauce but since they were already so well flavoured, I didn´t need or want the sauce.
For those of you who can´t find chipotle, a sweet paprika is a good substitute! I loved the steak and was so pleasantly surprised that it could be so great even without garlic. 😉
I should thank the group for voting on this one because it is fantastic.
