Steak with Mustard Butter and Fries

Hi everyone!

It is Friday! Hurray! This is my first blog post inspired by a cooking group called, cookthebookfridays This group is determined to cook all the recipes in David Lebovitz´s cookbook called, ¨My Paris Kitchen¨. (Want to know more about the book? check it out here) Not long ago, I purchased the book and I was really happy to be able to have an opportunity to use the cookbook in a consistent way. I quite like the cookbook and enjoy reading the stories as well as the recipes that the author shares.

Members of the group have voted on what recipe to post this month and today´s post was meant to be this one which is for a gorgeous entrecot steak with mustard sauce and homemade BAKED fries. I decided to make it for Valentine´s Day and it was an easy success. Ok, the fries took a bit of time but they were worth it. In the past, I have always deep fried mine but it is definitely worth the effort to bake them with some delicious spices. I added some fresh tarragon as well as the other spices that were recommended to the fries and they were great. (I did not use cilantro, I used parsley.)The sauce was divine though I think I would maybe cut the recommended portions for the sauce by half because the streaks that I usually buy here in Spain are not enormous! Normally, I dipp my fries in a steak sauce but since they were already so well flavoured, I didn´t need or want the sauce.

For those of you who can´t find chipotle, a sweet paprika is a good substitute! I loved the steak and was so pleasantly surprised that it could be so great even without garlic. 😉

I should thank the group for voting on this one because it is fantastic.

    1. Hi! Thank you so much! It is true! Life is never boring! We laugh a lot! I don’t think you really realise how your habits and routines are culturally based until you are in a new place or you are married to a person from another country. It is an eye opener! 😂

  1. I am so happy you are joining us! Great idea to substitute sweet paprika for the chipotle powder; I will try that next time even if I have the chipotle on hand.

    1. Thanks so much! I read that the flavours are similar so it is a good substitute! It is great to see posts related to the same recipe. I wonder what the next recipes will be? 😍😍😍😍

    1. Oh my gosh! It is definitely worth getting. Just one delicious recipe after another and interesting stories to match. You are right…any night is a good night for this! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

  2. So happy you have joined our group!! I think you’ll find it a wonderful adventure (and great excuse to try new things!). So happy you enjoyed your first meal!!

  3. Welcome, Natascha!! So fun to have you joining us. I loved reading your sidebar blurb–cooking has the same function for me as it is one of the few activities during which I don’t really multitask (rarely check my phone, etc.). It’s the focus and the sense of order and semi-control. 🙂 What a great recipe for you to join us with and I look forward to cooking the book with you!

    1. Thank you so much! 😊❤ You described it well! A sense of order and semi-control. And I don’t have to talk! I just read and concentrate on what I am doing. Ok…I talk to myself sometimes haha!Looking forward to more cooking adventures with all of you! Enjoy your weekend, my friend xxxxx

  4. Welcome to our group, Natascha! This was perfect for Valentines Day. Looks like many of us had the same idea to make for that day. I especially enjoyed the fries.

    1. Thank you! Yes, you are right! Maybe we all had the same idea because most men really adore a good steak! And we have good taste too, of course😊I loved the fries too! They take more time but I prefer them this way to fried! Enjoy your weekend! 😙😙😙😙

  5. It took me some missteps and jumps to get to your site but I am here and I am so happy you have joined CtBF. Although many of us already know each other, we are excited to see some new faces pop up today. If you need any help, advice or have questions, just ask any of us and we’ll be happy to help or find someone who can help you. And, your being a Canadian living in Spain will produce some interesting posts and conversations, I suspect. I am glad you both enjoyed the steak/frites combo as much as I did. Baking french fries. Hooray. Again, welcome. See you in two weeks.

    1. Hello Mary! Thank you so much for such a lovely message! It is great to be here and I have received messages from other members that are equally kind and welcoming. 😊Sorry about the difficulty to find my post. The linking is not working correctly on my blog and I have had to contact worpress about it. They are trying to fix it now. The recipe was fantastic and I can’t wait to see what is next on the agenda. Have a fantastic weekend! ❤❤😍😍👍👍
